Dear John Cisna,
Good Morning Mr. John, My Name is Jude Michael G. De Peralta and I am studying in Brent International School Manila. Our teacher asks us to make a letter about your article name “Forget Supersize Me” and talk about my opinion. I was shocked when I saw the results of your experiment when you ate Mcdonald’s for 3 months, it is amazing that you have a wonderful outcome after the experiment. I will talk about the things that I agree and disagree and ask questions about your documentary.
In your article I agree with you stated that “It is our choice that makes us fat, not McDonald’s” in your statement I agree with you because you did your experiment with proper diet. You did your experiment for three months and you have the menu of the food that you are going to eat not like in Supersize Me. Mr. Spurlock ate the food that is in the menu and he order a lot of food just for a meal. But you have a responsibility by eating food that has two thousand calories per day because if you limit that fast food intake you will not gain weight. Fast food is not the reason why people get fat but it is our choice to get fat.
I disagree in some of parts in you documentary because we don’t know if McDonalds sponsored you to do this experiment? Or maybe you are trying to make them look good so that people will think that eating fast food can lead to bad health. It is unfair to Spurlock because you have a diet or a meal of what you have to eat but Spurlock does not have a plan of that food that he eats. Mr. Spurlock just eats anything in the menu. Lastly during experiment you have an exercise program which is to walk forty five minutes a day. While Mr. Spurlock doesn’t have any exercise in his experiment. The points that I said is the one that I disagree in the articles.
People have their different perspective , questions that they want to ask. But for you is it three months? Why not one month like Mr. Spurlock did. Maybe you will lose weight by walking forty five minutes every day. Why did you not hire some health professional? Even though you are a science teacher, you still need some health professional to monitor your health during your experiment. And lastly, what kind of food do you eat in McDonalds? Is it healthy food? Or the food that does not affect in your body?
In his article “Forget Supersize Me”, there are some parts that I agree and parts that I disagree but there are some parts of the article that I’m still confuse. People have the right to choose what is good for them. Eating a lot of any food can lead to gain weight. We are not to blame McDonald’s for obesity because we are the one who chose to buy fast food, even though we already know that the products that they sell is bad for us but why do we still buy them? Maybe this will come for our responsibilities by having discipline in our body. Thank you so much for your time to read my letter.
