The title of the documentary that we watched is “Supersize me” the director of the documentary is Morgan Spurlock. He is an American documentary filmmaker, humorist, television producer, screenwriter and political activist. “Supersize me” is one of his best documentary and his intended audience in the documentary are the people who eat fast food. The purpose of his documentary is to show the effects of eating fast food in daily basis and his message to the audience is to stop eating fast food and it is bad for our health.
Morgan Spurlock did in the documentary in different McDonalds in United States and he challenged himself by eating fast food for 30 days and he wants to see the effect of eating fast food in daily basis. He did this documentary because in his country (United States) people are being fat and obese because of fast food and because there was 2 girls that went to the law and blame fast food (McDonalds) for being sick and the law did not approve it because there is no evidence to show. That is why Spurlock wants to the documentary to show the effects if it is true. During the introduction I laughed because the narrator says that “US has big cars, big houses and big people”. The issue in this documentary is the obesity in his country and the fast food are targeting the children. I think the dramatic part in the documentary is before he does the documentary his wife is sad and upset about his plan because she is scared about his health. They only eat organic food or vegetable. He tested his health by going to 3 different doctors and the results are good that he is in a healthy man. During doing the 30 days of eating fast food he starts to feel different and the shocking part is he is gaining 5 to 10 pounds every week. The doctor is telling him to stop because his health will be in danger. After doing the 30 days challenge he gain 20 pounds and had a lot of sickness like headache. He proves to the court that eating fast food is bad for our health.
The sound effects in the documentary are scary every time they show a picture of McDonalds. I think that the images are sharp because the images show that McDonalds are bad for us. The Interviews were shocking because there is this one interview that he asked the people to recite their national pledge and most of them doesn’t know and couldn’t finish the pledge and when he asked the slogan in Big Mac all of them say it at the same time.
In the documentary I learned that eating fast food can lead to obesity, addiction and sickness like Cholesterol is increasing every time people eat fast food and can cause major problem in heart, liver and blood. Fast food marketing is using the characters in Disney to get the attraction of child to buy food from them. If people eat fast food they start to crave more but when they stop eating they will have massive headache. There are also some drawbacks in this documentary is when he said that fast food can cause obesity but when he interviewed a guy who ate 19000 Big Macs, he still look thin and health.
I would recommend this documentary to people especially for my friends who eats in fast food a lot because this documentary shows that eating Fast food is bad for our health. Maybe after they watch this documentary they will stop eating fast food because it shows in the end of the documentary the causes of eating fast food. They might be scared after seeing this documentary. This documentary is effective because it shaped my thoughts because I learned some new things in this documentary like eating fast food is terrible for our health and
